Ogun State: Akinale Community Celebrates “Gbagede Oba” To Mark Ileya Festival

ObaThe Akinale Community Development Association (CDA) has formalized the sermonising of the yearly Muslim festival “Ileya” at the Palace of their traditional ruler.

Tagged “Gbagede Oba”, the social interaction which is all-inclusive has drawn sons and daughters of the town from home and in the diaspora to come home to evaluate necessarily needed development programs in the town.

Addressing the people at the gathering, the publisher, Village Network News in Towulade’s Palace, Oba Olufemi¬† Ogunleye,

Commended the CDA leaders for their creativity and initiative to organize the event which has become a template for the social development of Akinale.

Oba Ogunleye regretted that the current freeze in the economy of Nigeria has smeared the rural populace with poverty, calling for self-driven survival strategies.

He, therefore, admonished all sons and daughters of Akinale to tighten their belts and evolve positive ideas that will utilize their natural resources for economic gains.

Earlier, the Chairman of the CDA¬† Alhaji Dada Ogunniyi said the “Gbagede Oba” was conceived as a wake-up call to all Akinale indigenes home and abroad to felicitate with each other, using Ileya as a platform, where they can evaluate the state of their home and plan for sustainable development.
