The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has restated that protocol officers and orderlies of dignitaries would not be allowed into the airport except they are traveling alongside their principals.
This is just as the agency assured airport users that Nigerian airports under its management are fully ready to play host to air travelers during this Eid el-Kabir celebrations.
FAAN’s decision not to give access to protocol officers and orderlies is coming on the heels of the July 11,14 and 17 breaches of COVID-19 Protocol.
In a statement issued by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, said that as part of the agency’s commitment to ensure safe, healthy and seamless facilitation of its highly esteemed passengers during the Sallah celebrations and beyond, the authority has put necessary safety measures in place in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) and the Port Health Service.
According to her other operational facilities are also functioning optimally, while airport security architecture and other logistics have been upgraded and strengthened to provide for the expected increase in passenger traffic in and around Nigerian airports.
“While we advise the general public and intended travelers to make early preparations towards completing their travel requirements in good time, we will also like to re-state that protocol officers and orderlies of dignitaries will not be allowed into the airport except if they are traveling alongside their principals, as only traveling passengers would be allowed into the airports.
“Also, dignitaries and VIPs are enjoined to please ensure compliance with airport protocols for their safety and that of others,” she said.
FAAN, she added is committed to its core values of safety, security, and Comfort.
