FAAN LogoThe Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said that agencies at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport (NAA), Abuja have commenced investigation on the recent allegation that some airport officials were collecting money from returning passengers on evacuation flights.

An online statement signed by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu

This is just as FAAN advised passengers to desist from giving money and to report any official from any agency that requests money under any guise.

The allegation and advice are coming as the nation’s airports begin to reopen gradually for flight operations.

The authority stated would like to inform passengers and other airport users that there is no aspect of its services at the airports that are being paid for by cash.

She added that arriving passengers are expected to have gone through the COVID-19 test before boarding their flights at the ports of departure, therefore they should not pay any money whatsoever to any airport official for the purpose.

All COVID-19 measures, Yakubu said that all the preventive measures that have been put in place at airports are free for passengers and does not attract any charges.

FAAN, she stated would also like to use this medium to appeal to passengers once again to always ensure adherence to all safety and security measures at the airports.

Yakubu assured that FAAN is committed to its core values of safety, security, and comfort.
