It was indeed a celebration of life while still on earth, as the President General of EzuruezuMbaise, Chief Cyril Anyanwu danced with his wife and Lolo to the amazement of his friends, well-wishers and family
His Excellency, RT Hon. EmekaIhedioha, Former Imo governor, identified Chief Cyril Anyanwuexemplary leadership as a necessary ingredient for national growth and development.
Ihedioha said this at AgunezeAhiara, AhiazuMbaise council area of Imo while felicitating with President-General of EzuruezuMbaise, Chief Cyril Anyanwu, on his conferment of the chieftaincy title of ‘IkengaAguneze’.
He described Anyanwu, a lawyer and senior citizen, as a pivot of peace and development and urged him to maintain his exemplary leadership in the interest of the Mbaise nation, Imo and Nigeria at large.
He also thanked the traditional ruler of the Aguneze autonomous community, EzeCosmasOnyejiji, and the Eze – in -Council for conferring Anyanwu with the title while expressing confidence that with the likes of Anyanwu, Nigeria would head to greatness.
He said, “As I warmly felicitate with you, I am certain that this recognition will spur you to continue providing invaluable leadership to your community and the Mbaise nation, as is greatly needed in our land. “May the good Lord continue to imbue you with wisdom and strength of character in this onerous tour of duty “, he said.
Also in her remark, a former Deputy Governor of Imo, Mrs. Theresa Njoku, formerly known as Mrs. Ada Okwuonu, said that the country would be a better place if the irks of Anyanwu were her leaders.
She prayed for God’s protection and direction on Anyanwu and his wife, Lolo Stella Uchedia and called on Nigeria’s youths to be sensible in their choice of leaders for a greater future.
Speaking, the traditional ruler of the Ogbe autonomous community, AhiaraAhiazuMbaise council area, Eze Patrick Ihuoma, described Anyanwu’s selection for the title as a further confirmation of his role as a “worthy mentor and exemplary leader” whose advice is necessary for a better Nigeria.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the event, Dr. Matthew Nwokoji described Anyanwu as an accomplished leader who impacted the lives of many successful persons who came around him.
Nwokoji, based in the United States, urged youths in the state and Nigeria at large to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) so as to be able to elect credible, exemplary leaders in 2023, who would take Nigeria to her dream destination.
In his response, ChiefAnyanwu thanked his people for finding him worthy to further serve them and called on other community leaders to be fair to the people and carry everyone along.
He advised Nigerians to consider capability, competence, honesty and trustworthiness in their choice of leaders as the country gears up for the 2023 General Elections.
” I remain eternally grateful for the opportunities given me by my people to serve them and I advise them, and indeed all Nigerians, not to mortgage their future, but to always insist on credible leadership at all levels “, he said.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of a certificate of conferment to Anyanwu by the Eze – in- Council as well as various displays by dance troupes such as Agbigbo, AtiereMbaiseand IkoroMbaise, etc.
